Unitree
Unitree R1
The R1 broke the psychological $5,000 barrier: it's the cheapest complete humanoid you can buy today. Light (about 25 kg), surprisingly agile and aimed at developers, creators and schools that want a real biped without taking out a mortgage.
The price cut shows in the hands and payload, but as an entry ticket to the humanoid world it has no rival. The developer-oriented R1-D variant drops even lower, to $4,290.
The good
- The cheapest real humanoid on the market
- Light and manageable at home or in class
- Same software ecosystem as the G1
The bad
- Limited manipulation capabilities
- Less robust than its bigger siblings
- Still a tinkerer's product, not an assistant
